My Favorite Things – 12 Days of Christmas – Day 1

Christmas is appropriately just after Thanksgiving.  We have already been thinking about what we are thankful for.  Christmas is the time of year when we reflect upon the fact that we are loved. The Creator of the universe is crazy in love with us.  He loves us so much He gives us all we need.  He is who we need to be, all that we cannot be.  Then He gave His heart to us, in exchange for our hearts.  We love Him because He first loved us.  So this is the secret celebration!  It is really though, an all year party.

I paint what draws me.  I paint houses in lovely places and the people who live in them. We are free to live simply and to love each other.  I am not painting the historical Christmas story.  I am painting the gifts I see…Dorsey

Somewhere in Scotland 8×8 acrylic on canvas

Somewhere in Scotland is from a photo that I found of a little house in Scotland.  All of my paintings of houses represent stories of the people who live in them.  They contain all our stories.  We love our families…our shared experience of love and joy, sorrow and tragedy.  We live near the valley of the shadow, yet we also lie down in green pastures.  We walk beside still waters, and we enjoy a feast with others who are also walking through this life.  There are many gifts given at Christmas.  There is much to celebrate.  I offer you a few of these little stories to enjoy.    Merry Christmas.  Enjoy each moment.  Give your best love.  Be your finest art!!!! ”    Dorsey
