My Favorite Things- Day 19

v-37 Walking in hours 8x8

Walking in Hours

8×8 – oil on canvas

“Oh I have been a beggar and shall be one again, and few the ones with help to lend within the world of men. One day I walk on flowers, one day I walk on stones. Today I walk in hours, one day I shall be home.”

These lyrics by Bruce Cockburn, are some of my favorite ever.  Years ago when I was wandering all over the U.S. and Canada, I got to hear him play in a little theatre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  There were all of 30 people in a high school auditorium. It was one of those delightful moments where you know you have experienced another’s heart.  I would like to pour something like that into my own art.  Until now, I have preferred telling my story in images.   These days I am venturing out with words.  I am more aware than ever of the hours we all walk in and our shared longing for and anticipation of home.
