REMEMBERING (8X8/oil on canvas)
It is Spring on the highlands. A few days after landing at Inverness, my hosts – James, Ems and Allie – drive me up the coast from Nairn to Dornocht. This country and its people are intriguing…their accents, their food, their humor. Something about it reminds me of South Dakota in the 50’s. There is an innocence here, and wildness. Of course the adventure meter is going off like crazy. My Scottish home is part of the experience. I am tucked into a lovely white croft (historic cottage) located 4 miles from Dornocht, with a fire, a tiny kitchen, a big old-fashioned bath, a bed with plenty of quilts, and a sense of peace. This country, these people, the quiet nights and easy pace are instrumental in helping me find what has been lost. Like an amnesia victim, I begin to remember who I am.
